Hey! I'm so glad you've stopped by my store. You may have a few questions about why these designs exist, and what they're in aid of. Let me explain...
My name is Hannah, and I'm a young mum from a small town called Masterton (to be fair, more people recognize the name now; "Ah! Golden Shears, right?").
Not only has the mental health crisis affected New Zealand really badly, but Masterton has been hit hard for several years in a row. We have extremely high suicide rates and a mental health community service that can't keep up with the sheer quantites of people coming in.
Personally, I've been very affected by mental health. It's something I've been coping with for a decade now, and I've watched many friends and family try and cope just the same. This isn't about the battle though - these designs were created to inspire hope and community support. I'm not a trained counselor (though I will be training for it once my son is old enough to make me lunch), but I think it's so important that we band together, to stomp out the stigma around mental illness and to lift up our peers who need it.
Mental health is not something that we need to fight alone.
